Since 1970, Rolco Shutters has been manufacturing the highest quality residential and commercial security roll shutters available in North America. Roll shutters can be installed on the interior or exterior of your home or business, and provide insulation, security, and light control.

Even the most efficient window is still an energy loser in an energy-efficient house. The efficiency of a window can be increased by the installation of heavy drapes or blinds on the inside of the window; however, this is not as efficient as installing a shutter on the outside of the window.

Heavy blinds or drapes on the inside of the house will trap cold coming through the window in the winter which gradually leaks into the house, and they will trap the sun’s heat on the wrong side of the glass in the summertime. By installing a shutter on the outside of the window, the sun’s heat is reflected away from the window before it gets to it, and in the wintertime, a dead air space between the shutter and the window provides extra insulation.

Rolco-Shutters-Extra-Insulation

Each Rolco shutter is custom-made to fit any door, window, or patio door. Rolco shutters are made from interlocking slats and the material is either PVC or aluminum. The slats inter-lock in such a way that they can close tightly for energy efficiency and light control or can be opened slightly where vents between the slats allow a certain amount of filtered light into the room.

In addition to being energy-efficient units, they also protect from would-be intruders. They are harder to get through than a glass window and, when completely closed, no one can see inside the home or business.

For shift workers roll shutters completely shut out the light from the house, creating a “night-time” effect. When not required, the shutter can be raised to any level you would like.

The interlocking slats slide up and down in a special aluminum channel that is mounted to the window. These shutters can double the efficiency of a single pane of glass and with insulated glass, they can increase the efficiency by up to 50 percent or more.

When in place, they practically eliminate inside condensation or build-up if the relative humidity in the house is controlled properly. The shutter is operated from the inside of the house either with a special crank or an electric motor.

If you are concerned about your furniture, carpet, and drapes fading because of the sun, a shutter on the exterior of the house will eliminate that problem.

To add to the efficiency of the interlocking slats, the aluminum slats have urethane insulation sandwiched in the slat. When the shutters are completely closed, your windows are protected from high winds, hail, heavy rain, and even hurricanes. They add value to your house. This is especially true as energy efficiency becomes more important in the home due to escalating energy costs.
